Where can i go for support if i have been raped or sexually assaulted?
We support anyone aged 13 and over who has been raped or sexually assaulted, either as adults or when they were children. We will support you whether or not you wish to report to the police. Juniper Lodge is furnished to provide a safe and comfortable non-threatening environment.
If you are aged under 13 years, you should speak to a parent, carer, teacher or other adult whom you feel you can trust.How can i contact juniper lodge?
By telephoning the number on the website, by contacting the police or asking a relative or professional to contact us on your behalf. If you leave a contact number then someone will call you back as soon as they can. All calls are returned at your request.
What medical support is available at Juniper lodge?
There is a specialised medical suite at Juniper lodge, and access to some medicines such as the morning after pill. Specially trained doctors are available to advise and examine. It would be helpful if the examination could take place before washing or bathing. After the examination you will be able to shower and change your clothes. You will also be advised about screening for sexually transmitted infections.
What other support will there be?
An initial appointment is made for an assessment of needs so we can be sure we are offering the most appropriate services. We can also where appropriate facilitate referrals to other agencies. We have experienced and trained volunteers who can offer a programme of emotional and practical support.
What would happen if i chose to report the assault to the police?
A specially trained officer will talk to you and explain the procedure. You can be assured that you will be treated professionally and with respect. If you are unsure about reporting and would like to speak to someone about the process without involving the police, staff at Juniper Lodge can advise you on this.
What if i want to see someone face to face?
Juniper Lodge offers practical and emotional support and aims to offer appointments quickly. After contacting the service an initial appointment is made for you to come into Juniper Lodge to discuss your needs. If it is the most appropriate service for you, then up to 8 support sessions will be offered at Juniper Lodge.
We can usually offer initial appointments quickly, within the week you contact, or at the latest, the following week. At some busy times you may be asked to wait a little longer, but advice can be given over the telephone in these instances, if required.
